- UBU, the User Bulletin Utility, is a short program to create a text
- bulletin from the RBBS User file. This program has been tested on the User
- files for RBBS 15.1x, but should also work on 14.1x user files.
-
- UBU should reside on the same DOS sub-directory as the RBBS Users file. To
- start the program, type UBU on the command line, or from a batch file. UBU
- will look for a file called UBU.PRM - the parameters file. If it is not
- present, UBU will create it.
-
-
- UBU.PRM is a three line text file containing the file and title paramteres
- for the program:
-
- Line 1 is the Users File name [Default is USERS]
-
- Line 2 is the output file name [Default is BULLET10]
-
- Line 3 is the bulletin title [Default is BBS User's Directory]
-
- UBU.PRM may be changed using any ascii text editor. Entries for lines 1
- and 2 must follow standard file naming conventions. The entry for Line 3
- should be no longer than 70 characters.
-
-
- You may also enter a Day of the Week parameter on the command line, where
- 1=Sunday and 7=Saturday. UBU will only execute on the day specified if this
- parameter is present.
-
- Example: UBU 6 will cause UBU to only execute if the day of the week is
- Friday. Your system clock must be set for the correct date for this function
- to work properly.
-
-
- UBU will create a text file listing your active users and their city and
- state in two columns. This file may then be posted as a bulletin. UBU will
- truncate the user entry if the combination of user name, city and state is
- longer than 37 characters. You may wish to user a utility such as PROANA to
- modify the user's city/state entry if this happens.
